Senior Siera Green posted 17 kills, eight digs and three aces to lead the Vulcans to a 25-21, 25-12, 13-25, 25-18 win over the University of Alaska at the D2 West Region Volleyball Showcase in San Francisco.

Earlier in the day, UH-Hilo (2-2) lost in three sets to Cal State Monterey Bay.

“That was a good bounce-back win for us,” Vuls coach Gene Krieger said in a release. “We needed that after the last 24 hours.” (The Vulcans lost to Menlo on Wednesday).

Randi Hunter added 12 kills and Mina Grant led UHH with 19 digs. Lucee Fitzgerald contributed an all-around effort with nine kills, 12 digs, two aces and four block assists.

Through the first two sets, the Vulcans hit .335, including .375 in the second game.

In the loss to Monterey Bay, Green led the Vulcans with 11 kills and three blocks, and Kiley Davis added six kills.

The Vuls hit just .089. Anela Viserio had 13 kills to lead the Otters (4-1).
